Practical workflow
Separate content, structure and proofing decisions so a late correction does not undo earlier work.
Use approved photographs at suitable resolution, crop respectfully and follow the school’s consent policy. Classify each proposed image as identification, explanation, evidence, navigation or atmosphere. If two pictures perform the same job, choose the stronger one. This keeps the image plan connected to the objective to make achievements, notices and upcoming actions easy for families to scan, rather than using pictures only to fill available boxes.
Start with the best legally usable source available. Avoid enlarging a small web image for print. Check orientation, colour, visible artefacts and whether important content sits too close to the crop edge. Keep the original file outside the publication so replacement and recropping remain possible.
Give deadlines and parent actions a distinct treatment while keeping celebratory stories and photographs balanced across pages. In Megal Publisher, an image frame can be resized while its picture is cropped and positioned inside it. Establish the frame in the grid first, then choose the crop. When several pictures have the same role, use consistent ratios and alignment. Review rotated or shaped images carefully because their visible boundary may differ from the rectangular frame.
A caption should add identity, time, place, explanation or credit. Informative images also need concise alt text describing their purpose; decorative images do not need a redundant description. Write descriptive headings and alt text, use plain language for actions and make deadlines distinguishable without colour alone.. Before output, inspect important images at 100 percent and check that no text has accidentally been flattened into an image.
