Start with meaning and order
A reader should be able to identify the purpose of the order of service, navigate its sections and understand the required action without decoding the visual design. The intended audience is people following a ceremony where sequence and dignity are more important than promotional impact, and the goal is to guide participants through the ceremony accurately and calmly. Use descriptive headings for cover and occasion details, opening and welcome, readings, music or responses, running order and participant names and closing, acknowledgements and practical notes and keep their reading order logical in both the page layout and exported document.
