Start with meaning and order
A reader should be able to identify the purpose of the poster, navigate its sections and understand the required action without decoding the visual design. The intended audience is people seeing a message briefly from several steps away, and the goal is to make one subject, date or action recognisable at viewing distance. Use descriptive headings for dominant headline, event or proposition, date and location, one response route and organiser or sponsor identity and keep their reading order logical in both the page layout and exported document.
