After the October 2026 deadlines
If Publisher is no longer available in Microsoft 365
Microsoft scheduled Publisher removal from Microsoft 365 for on or shortly after 1 October 2026 as its update rolls out. Support for perpetual Publisher 2021 ended on 13 October 2026. Perpetual versions can still be installed and used without support.
Bring your existing Publisher project to your Mac. Open the .pub file in Megal Publisher, make your changes and save an editable .mpub master. You can continue creating without a Microsoft Publisher installation or a Windows virtual machine.

Is there an official Microsoft Publisher app for Mac?
Microsoft Publisher has historically been a Windows application. Megal Publisher is an independent browser-based alternative, not a Microsoft product.
Do I need to install anything?
No desktop publishing application is required. Use a modern browser. Megal does not run Microsoft Publisher behind the scenes, and the app's optional local AI features are not needed to open, edit or create ordinary publications.
How does Megal open a PUB file on Mac?
Megal's own PUB import engine works directly with the original .pub file, bringing text, pictures and layout elements into the editor. It does not require Microsoft Publisher or a PDF conversion step.
Can I edit a PUB file rather than just view it?
Yes. Select and edit text, pictures, shapes and layout objects, then save your ongoing work as an editable .mpub project.
What should I know about PUB compatibility on a Mac?
Font availability and some older Publisher effects can affect imported layouts. Windows fonts may be unavailable on your Mac, changing text flow, and complex WordArt, groups or proprietary features may need adjustment. Keep your original .pub file and compare important publications with an original PDF or printout before final output. You can open and edit your file free.
Can I send the edited file back to a Windows Publisher user?
