Decide what readers compare

Claims, dates, measurements, statistics, citations and contact details need sources and an explicit review date.. Start by listing the fields a reader must compare or verify. Use a real table when rows and columns express relationships; use labelled text blocks when the information is short or irregular. A table chosen only to force alignment can make reading order and later editing harder.

Build one repeatable data pattern

Create headings, labels, units and value positions before entering all records. Keep comparable fields in the same order. Use table header cells for genuine data tables and avoid blank rows as visual spacing. For fact sheets, the repeated pattern should make missing or unusually long values visible during review.

Protect accuracy during layout

Do not retype approved figures merely to fit a design. Keep a source list beside the publication and mark transformations such as shortened units or rounded values. After a font or column change, inspect row wrapping and confirm that every value still belongs to the correct label. This matters especially when subject and scope, short overview, key facts or figures, practical implications and source, owner and contact details share a compact page.

Plan the update path

Record source links and a content owner so facts can be reviewed rather than merely changing the date on an old sheet.. Add an effective date, issue reference or version where stale data would mislead. A second reviewer should compare the final output against the source, reading down columns and then across rows. That different review order catches associations that an ordinary visual proof can miss.
